Hounds chase after the scent

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — For three days at the K9 Nose Work March Madness tournament, the dogs got to do what comes naturally to them.

They got to find scents, cleverly hidden in chairs and on tires. They padded around the search area, whether a room or a cordoned off area outdoors, and sniffed their way to the scent.

Thirty-five dogs gathered each day during the three-day Nose Work Level 1 Trials at the Allstar Expo Complex in Gettysburg. It was the dog’s job to find the scents, while the dog’s owner or handler watched, controlling the dog from a loose lead…
